Met Gala 2021 was held on 13 th of September and the theme of this extravagant event was ‘American Fashion’. Affectionately referred to as “fashion’s biggest night out,” the Met Gala 2021 is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The event welcomes stars, young creative individuals, and industry paragons. The Costume Institute will host its first two- part exhibition, on the theme of American fashion, during 2021 and 2022. @lilnasx told a three-part LGBTQ+ American fairytale with his look for the 2021 Met Gala. He arrived on the red carpet in a dramatic cape that exudes regality and represents concealing one’s true self. The cape was then shed to reveal gleaming Medusa-adorned armor, a symbol of protection from the prejudices faced as a Black, queer person. Finally, the armor is removed to reveal a skin-tight bodysuit that represents living life as your true, unguarded self.

@donatella_versace wore a gown inspired by Versace’s iconic bondage dress, a look she first wore in New York in 1992. The voluminous silhouette references the work of prominent American designer Charles James.

@maluma wore a custom #AtelierVersace look inspired by American cowboys, a theme that has also served as inspiration for several iconic Versace collections. The scarlet-red pieces are punctuated by signature Medusa studwork and marry Versace DNA with American fashion history.

And there she is! @KendallJenner arrived at the 2021 Met Gala in New York—wearing Givenchy’s completely embellished gown where luxury was flowing through the outfit.

@lupitanyongo wore a custom #AtelierVersace gown to attend the Met Gala 2021. Inspired by @versacejeanscouture’s love of American denim, the design features a sculptural haute couture silhouette and is enriched with a crystal-adorned gorgette underskirt that’s slit to the thigh.

She wore it to the Dior show because it is a DIOR.

Stephen Curry wore a classic #AtelierVersace tuxedo embroidered with iconic Barocco shapes. The jacket is finished with a signature buckle inspired by Versace’s bondage dress.

Ayesha Curry wore a custom #AtelierVersace gown inspired by extravagant American architecture.

Together with her husband Stephen Curry, the couple represent the American dream and Hollywood glamour. The gown is adorned with signature Versace elements such as Medusa charms, Greca details and Barocco patterns.

@taylor_hill attended the #MetGala2021 in a custom #AtelierVersace gown from the Fall-Winter 2015 Collection. The statuesque draping and deep shade recall the iconic Statue of Liberty.

@imaanhammam wore an #AtelierVersace gown from the Spring-Summer 2002 Collection to attend the #MetGala2021. The intricately embroidered stars represent the American Flag.

Zoey Deutch attended the #MetGala2021 in a custom #AtelierVersace gown inspired by the American disco movement of the 1970s. Completely embroidered with Swarovski crystals, the design recalls American fashion icons and the Manhattan club scene. The piece is finished with an extravagant cape featuring shimmering strings of water-drop crystals.

Emrata wearing #VeraWangHaute at the #InAmerica: A Lexicon of Fashion — #MetGala. She chose a custom crimson red silk plunging strapless gown with a trumpet silhouette accented by hand sewn macramé lace appliqué and cut-away details. The gown was worn with a crimson red hand cut silk organza floral neck piece.

What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?! Kim Kardashian along with Kayne west wore Balenciaga to Met Gala 2021. Her hairdo was 73 inches long pony.
