Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Lakme Fashion Week joined hands for a glamorous style week. Beginning with a drive-in style for the occasion held in Mumbai, the main event took place from 6th October till 10th October. The Lakme Fashion Week 2021 scene for its first actual runway Autumn-Winter’21 assortments was called “The Reunion” commending style and fellowship. Consistent with the new standard, the week remained sans season. Here are the top must-have festive–bridal trends followed by the LFW that will make room in your closets.
JJ Valaya with his majestic “Rumeli” collection.
Inspired by the Ottoman Empire, this collection is a celebration of timelessness, royalty, and glory. An amalgamation of rich fabrics, intricate detailing, and age-old embroideries together created a collection that blends in Turkish elements with riches from the Balkans. “Rumeli” is a testimony to exuberance and opulence, a showcase of garments that dictate timeless style.
Elegant, fuss-free, & inspired by the modern bride, Arpita Mehta unfurls her bridal line at FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week featuring intricate details, formal silhouettes, soft prints on a canvas of vivid colors including dust pink, mint, coconut, etc. “With beauty all around and the auspiciousness of the occasion, a ravishing red lehenga or a sparkly pastel lehenga seems about a beautiful fit for the modern bride and her girl tribe” adds @arpita__mehta while shedding light on her collection and her love for magnificent sunsets.
Malaika Arora ( @malaikaaroraofficial ) looks like an absolute dream in bridal attire by @annus_creation as she walks for our brand Annu’s Creation for FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week 2021. “Her grace, poise and elegance are unmatched! Couldn’t have asked for a better show stopper for our brand”, says the designer.
A sensorial and thoughtful extension of the Lost Summer collection, ‘Eternal Summer’ by @mishruofficial is all about delicate, detailed workmanship. The designer treasures color and has worked closely with artisans to conceptualize new color gradients that have been rendered in silk thread. The prismatic color dynamics of these multi-floral surfaces are what make this collection so exciting.
The elegant @taapsee graces the moonlit runway for @6degree.co presents @gaurangofficial’s ‘Chaand’, a collection that brings forth an anthology of ethereal Jamdani sarees from across India.
The collection is inspired by the moon rising in the heavens above with pulsing beams of radiant moonlight to waken and transform the world. Crafted using the legendary and complex Jamdani weaving technique and its innovative diversity, the ensembles represent the magical creations woven from Dhaka, Benaras, Kota, Srikakulam, Uppada, Venkatgiri, Kashmir & Paithan.
Designer @abhishekguptabenares’s ‘Homecoming’ collection is like an ethereal experience. The collection is deeply rooted in tradition yet transcends every cultural barrier with its jewel tones like Burgundy, Teal Green, and Prussian Blue and fabrics like fine silk and sheer nets. Shot in the holy city of Benaras, each ensemble weaves in the designer’s feeling of homecoming with traditional motifs and the label’s signature techniques of fine appliqué, pleating, textures, and quilting.
Tarun Tahiliani’s spectacular collection is a myriad of vibrant colors, embroideries, and crafts.
The label showcases 5 capsule collections: Temple Mauli, Bidri, Kutch Kantha, Sootra, and Molten Haweli. The collections are inspired by different crafts & techniques and architecture in the country; from the intricate art form of delicate bidri technique to Mughal architecture, each garment tells a story of traditional craft with a hint of modernity.
‘Paper Dolls’ by Aisha Rao @aisharaoofficial showcased a collection that is inspired by 18th and 19th-century bards dressed in fine silks and embroidered woolens. Aisha’s garments, infused with a mix of fine tissue, organza, tulle, and raw silk, saw a wide range of ethnic outfits. With a heavy focus on techniques such as applique, aari, and zardosi, amongst others, this collection shows the designer’s individual interpretation of an old-school idea.
Experience the Beautiful Symphony of Designer Festive & Wedding Collection “Prakriti” at Lakme Fashion Week by @shikhasrishtidesigns. The designer presented their collection for the first time at Lakme Fashion Week 2021 and @chitrangda was the Showstopper of their show, who elated the evening by her walk.
@jade_bymk presents their collection, “Bani Thani- Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful.” Their latest showcase is a unique and experimental spin on miniature paintings brought to life with intricate details & vibrant colors on exquisite ensembles. The line features Leheriya, a form of tie & dye technique that captures the wonder of Rajasthan’s artisanal heritage. Celebrating age-old techniques, Jade by Monica celebrates the old-world charm with a modern twist with their exquisite line perfect for brides.

@geishadesigns by Paras and Shalini presented their latest showcase, & “New Beginnings” at the event. The collection featured revamped designs, cuts, and lines on hand-embroidered fabrics in lustrous silk in unusual color combinations radiating an exquisite charm.
