Dreamy Wedding Of Divya & Archit!

Archit and I met in a grocery store in NYC. I had moved from Florida and had no friends in the city. So I was ecstatic to meet an Indian! He was in a similar situation as well. But when we started talking I thought we couldn’t be friends because we were so different. Coincidently, we ended up getting an apartment 5 mins away from each other and started catching up every now and then after work for dinner or coffee! We would explore the city together and go on weekend day trips which became so much fun for us! We both are Punjabis so we would love to try out new Indian food outlets. At that time my parents were also pushing me to get married and would send me rishtas every day. Archit would just make fun of all of them and reject them all on my behalf! Eventually, we became so close and decided to tell our parents about each other.

Both our families met and decided to let us give some more time to date. So another year passed by and then COVID hit. All travel was banned. After a year, our parents rokified us without us back in India. We thought would get married in 2021. But then travel situation was even worse we couldn’t go back home that year as well. We waited out and finally were able to travel in 2023. So after 3 long years, it finally happened and Archit said “i am going to go all out now” and planned an epic wedding!

Dreamy Proposal

In 2020, Archit proposed to me. It was out a dream! Total surprise for me, he said he was taking me out for dinner and asked me to dress up! And then took to a flying range. I thought we were sky diving and I ran in the opposite direction being so afraid of heights. But then, he was like no we have to do this! So we sat in a helicopter, and toured the whole of Manhattan for about 30 mins! And when about to land, I saw people with big signs of “will you marry me”! I was in tears! It was surreal.

Wedding Story

We hosted a 3-day event in a Chhatarpur farmhouse in Delhi. We kicked off the festivities with a meet and greet and Sagan ceremony. Followed by a cocktail night which was THE party of our lives. Navraj Hans performed and we danced like there is no tomorrow! We had pyros all around! Our outfits were custom designed as well. The decor theme was an enchanted forest. All are planned by Eventchakra with Shutterdown being our video and photo team. We had marshmallow and dead mouse masks that was just epic!

Haldi Celebration

The most fun event in Day 2 was haldi. We had quirky boho decor with all dressed up in yellow. We coordinated our outfits and looked so cute. Thanks to Masaba Gupta!

Mehendi Ceremony

In the same way we also had a Punjabi village theme mehendi night. This night was just unforgettable! Once the performances ended, DJ played until 4 am and our friends had the most fun dancing, drinking, fooling around, etc.

Wedding Day

Our theme was Mughal and Moroccan inspired. We hired a Sufi singer, Amrit Wadali who was so so good and engaged the audience so well. Our outfits were a dream as well. The pictures speak for themselves. My lehenga is the most memorable that matched perfectly with the theme.
