Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2016 – A Glimpse

Soothing Weather is ablaze in Delhi right now but its thrills and chills at the 27th edition of the Amazon India Fashion Autumn-Winter Week 2016 in association with Maybelline New York. The event is Asia’s largest fashion and trade platform as well.
The five day event starting today was opened by Designer Varun Bahl and is set to present new trends with 101 designers showcasing their collections, this edition will always be special as not only it will exhibit womenswear, but it will also have as dedicated menswear shows which will be showcased this Friday.
Traditional Collections
DAY 1
- Gaurav Gupta
Gaurav Gupta’s designs were fascinating as he presented a collection ‘Melt’ that aimed to focus on climatic changes. His garments were based on zero-waste philosophy, or they had minimal wastage of fabrics. You could use such fabrics to minimize the damage on your surroundings and look wonderful at the same time as well.
- Kiran Uttam Ghosh
‘Silver’ presented by Kolkata-based designer rendered an indelible mark on the viewers. Tibetan and Mongolian jewellery motifs were profoundly used. Silver was also used in a classic manner in her designs. So, how about revisiting the silver jewellery trend once again, hope to see you again in a beautiful white outfit.
- Shantanu and Nikhil
Shantanu and Nikhil’s designs known for his glam gown had flattering silhouettes with Shades of beige, pastels and plum dominating their collection. Playing up with a beige toned gown paired with some red and white tops this season will definitely be a winner this season for all you ladies out their.
DAY 2
- Nikasha
Nikasha used bright colours in her silhouettes. Her collection gave a new perspective on the embroidered ethnic with shimmery borders and net skirts. Girls who love to mix and match while using vivid coloured clothes can try her collection.
2. Viral, Ashish and Vikrant’s Virtues
Viral, Ashish and Vikrant’s Virtues ‘From Gujarat with Love’ was scintillating. These collection were serene with vibrant colours and vivid prints. So, if any of you ladies want to feel like a million dollar girl, try this collection.
3. Samant Chauhan
‘Silk Route’ was an inspiration of Samant’s collection from the Asian silk route. So how about trying this new chic look with beautiful hues of red and gold, these outfits will surely ace up your style quotient.
4. Malini Ramani
Malini Ramini’s collection ‘Supernova’ was a portrait of a young confident lady, inspired by peacock motifs and gold embroidery were on display at large with tunics and sarees heading her designs. We love this women centric idea and definitely recommend you to try her outfits to feel that confidence in you.
DAY 3
Shruti Sancheti and Rohit Kamra
Aditi Rao Hydari set the ramp on fire for designer Sancheti’s collection which drew inspiration from Turkey. Aditi felt that outfits were perfect for young modern women. Hence, this collection makes for a perfect day out option for all the ladies out there.
Randeep Hooda turned show-stopper on day 3. The outfits made your eyes stick to the runway. Gingham jackets were executed to perfection. Guys who want to look traditional as well as tough at the same time can opt for this look.
DAY 4
Mandira Wirk
Malaika Arora Khan was bought in by Designer Mandira Wirk to walk for her show. Malaika looked elegant with her soft, open hair in a strappy black gown with gold embroidery on the torso. You can also rock this look for that perfect traditional feeling.
Niki Mahajan
Contemporary-Ethnic line with a colourful palette of red and ivory hues created with delicate patterns and diamantes. The dynamic flare of her outfits will definitely be a welcome add-on to your wardrobe.
Ashima Leena
Ashima Leena’s collection was influenced by Persian carpets. Cascading prints, applique and playful tassels were a part of her outfits. Leena’s outfit would give you that cross-border and multi-cultural look.
Shikha and Vinita
Ilk by Shikha and Vinita focused on Pointillism, an art moment. Printed opaque fabrics with shirt dresses in shades of blues and red. Such beautiful use of shades of colours will definitely bring out the best in your eyes and enhance your beauty.
Anavila
Anavila’s layered saris with cardigans embroidered with 3D flowers and knit tops underneath. Anavila accessorised the saris with light jackets and floral underskirts. Ladies, these quaint dresses would definitely set you apart from the crowd.
Eka
Cosy pleated and polka dot dresses paired with palazzos. Checkered and plain dresses in warm colours were all to view.These exquisite sarees would wrap around you beautifully and give a perfect Indian look.
DAY 5
Sulakshana Monga
Sulakshana Monga ‘Solte’ was a line-up of long dresses, halter tops and tube dresses with gowns in ivory and black.
Joy Mitra
Ethnic collection with versatile silk lehengas and long kurtas with subtle gold floral embroidery paired with lehenga skirts.
Couture Collections
DAY 1
Apart from the traditional outfits, couture designs were showcased by Gaurav Jai Gupta and Hemant & Nandita who presented their collection with huge influence of deep blues, dark reds and space greys. Varun Bahl ‘Nocturne’ was inspired by the jungle look. Pallavi Mohan collection was perfectly structured up with feathered top on striped pants. Similarly Rina Dhaka’s collection were reminiscent of the 90’s.
DAY 2
Anita Dongre ‘Graasroot’ collection was a beautiful blend of prints. Rajesh Pratap Singh collection used shades of gold and white extensively. Dhruv Kapoor collection ranged from punk to romanticism. Annaika’s Lock, Stitch and Gothic’ was quite trendy and Rimzim Dadu outfits were structured and came with a beautiful flow which is indeed fabulous.
DAY 3
Divyam Mehta gave an ode to the modern globetrotter .Ujjwal Dubey had edgy fashion this time. Pankaj and Nidhi used embellishments. Sanchita collection was an inspiration of the galaxy’s elements. Anupama Dayal used Nagaland’s tribal elements. At last, Coral shells and iridescent pearls were used by Sahai Ambar Pariddi, Valliyan by Nitya and Vasundhara in the accessory show.
DAY 4
Athiya Shetty’s rocked the runway for Namrata Joshipura’s collection. Rina Singh cosy pleated dresses paired with palazzos. Aneeth Arora’s ‘Pero’ was all about school. Amrita Khan’s ‘Love Birds’ used warm and rich colours. Ragini Ahuja’s ‘Ikai’ took on casual and relaxed outfits. Ruchika Sachdeva ‘Bodice’ was all about chic jackets in plain colours.
DAY 5
Gauri & Nainika used gowns that accentuate the hourglass figure. Kartikeya used velvet-play on long hem dresses. Jaya Rathore presented simple and elegant pieces such as wrap around jackets dresses with tassel details.
