Leading designer and couturier, Abhinav Mishra is celebrated for his glamorous ethnic wear inspired by Indian art and architecture featuring pastel tones and intricate embroideries along with his signature Mirror Work that he relentlessly aims to revive as a craft.
The sprawling 2200 sq.ft. store is inspired by the havelis of Lucknow, replete with intricate mirror work, grand arches and pillars. The store transports you back in history to the rich cultural heritage of Lucknow, and pays homage to the tombs and grand palaces with the carvings inlaid in clay. The mirror work on the walls and arches are borrowed from the artistry that Jaipur offers, along with the pastel pink tones. The motifs on the wall, personally designed by Abhinav, tie together his artistic sensibilities, and rich cultural references with the space.
The store is decorated with white roses and rajnigandha, that further enhances the dream-like innocence and purity that the brand stands for. The store also features hand painted walls of bougainvillea, a flower that features on the brand logo. The delicate summer flower epitomizes love and evokes a strong connection to Abhinav’s childhood. The flower has over time, become an integral part of the brand’s personality. Finished with cane furniture, the store exudes a freshness and charm like no other.
The designer also is a co-founder of India’s leading wedding decor and design firm, Rani Pink, which strongly contributes to his sensibilities towards the decor at the store. Personally helmed by Abhinav, the store is an extension of his own personality and a space he has individually designed and worked on. In future the designer plans to design his very own stores in other cities of India.
On the launch of the new flagship store, Abhinav Mishra adds, “I’m thrilled to open the doors to my flagship bridal store in Delhi, it is a much larger space than my previous store and will house several earlier collections along with new collections. My store is an extension of my personality. I’m hugely inspired by my country. There’s a certain richness and understated grandness in every architectural masterpiece of this country. Palaces, forts, dargahs, tombs, mughal gardens – everything has a deep story which keeps me intrigued and curious. That’s what I wanted for my store. From the palaces of British India i’ve borrowed rattan work, from the sheesh mahal i’ve borrowed the brilliance of mirror work, from my favourite Jama masjid of Lucknow I’ve borrowed the arches, all the silver furniture is inspired from the palaces of India. The pale pink comes from my favourite city – Jaipur. Every space has a part of me and every corner has a story. My clothes lighten the mood and express a celebration of our festivals.”
The new bridal store will feature earlier collections by Abhinav Mishra including shararas, anarkalis & stunning lehengas. The new store will also showcase the latest ‘Mehzabeen’ collection recently showcased at the designer’s first ever couture showcase in Delhi.
