Randeep Hooda and his girlfriend Lin Laishram tied the knot on  November 29 in Imphal. This mesmerising Meitei wedding, infused their celebration with the rich cultural tapestry of Manipur. Their love story took a beautiful turn as they announced their wedding on Instagram suggesting a mythological theme for the wedding.

The Meitei, an ethnic community in Manipur, boast a wedding ceremony deeply rooted in tradition, community, and ritual. Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram’s celebration showcased a perfect blend of these elements, offering a refreshing departure from modern wedding trends.

Lin Laishram donned the iconic potloi skirt, a traditional garment made from robust fabric and bamboo. This drum-like bridal dress featured intricate religious motifs, skillfully hand-embroidered by traditional weavers. It is sewn onto the bride a few hours before the wedding, adding a unique ritualistic touch to the attire.

Lin’s ensemble included a deep emerald green blouse, a woven waist belt, and the delicate muslin shawl known as Innaphi. The gold ornaments and headdress symbolised Lin as Radha, referred to as Jhapa in Manipuri traditions.

Randeep Hooda, on the other hand, opted for a white dhoti paired with the traditional Kokyet turban. During the ceremony, he wore a plain white shawl, signifying purity and serenity.

Beyond celebrating their love, Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram’s wedding became a vivid showcase of Manipuri traditions. Their choice to embrace the cultural heritage of Manipur turned the event into a cultural extravaganza, highlighting the diversity and beauty of Indian weddings.
