Wedding Unfolding To Unique Story Of Finding A True Partner

Sahil, a demand planner and I, an architect belongs to Mumbai and had a destination wedding in Goa. Like every other bride and groom, our wedding was really fantastic and special to us. As we were introduced to each other by our families in a typical arranged marriage setup, back in December 2017. We had a shaky start, as we share many common interests but each one has a very different lens of perspective towards things.

Initially we didn’t want to meet each other but later on things turned out in different ways for both of us. He was really upfront so he honestly shared his decision of not getting married as he was not ready for it at that moment of time. But our destiny has decided something different and get unfolded surprisingly unique.

Sahil was trying to sneak out from the situation so he had a secret plan of going on a work trip to Canada. But his plans get cancelled due to Visa issue. Therefore, we were left with no other option but to have meetings. Finally, our meeting got fixed. We had our first meeting in very simple manner. When I had first met him, I felt a gesture of most respectable and caring from his side. Then our meetings lead to next meeting thus we started with the most beautiful phase of relationship i.e. friendship. We started knowing and exchanging our prospects. Each time we used to meet it was wonderful to see how the connection seemed to get stronger and that’s when the proverbial “sparks flew” everything fell into place effortlessly. Gradually we build a strong bond that lead to the wise decision of getting tied in this relationship.

And Our Story led to our Marriage, a beautiful journey.

From being reluctant to seeding a bond of togetherness we travelled a great journey. We embrace our marriage ceremony with great zeal. Ironically Sahil received his Visa the next day and we wonder how our destiny has unfolded to a new story.

We wanted our wedding to be curated with a personal touch. It was a grand celebration of love and friendship. Everything was planned by me and my husband and it was all a surprise for our families as well. We were so desirous about our wedding & planned all the events together that were a true reflection of our bond

Being a designer, I designed my own wedding cards. Since it was a monsoon wedding happening in Goa, I chose a tropical theme to emphasize a Goa wedding and designed a different template to depict each function, keeping it simple but unique. Instead of wasting paper, we chose e-invites.

After hosting a welcome lunch, the day 1 of the celebration started off with the engagement ceremony followed by Sangeet/Cocktail. “The” function everyone looks forward to because it’s an excusable and understandable reason to be happy drunk and let the dancer within exploit the dance floor. Keeping all these things in mind, I wanted to have a subtle yet glam decor. We used dark colour theme in black and blue, with a pop of bright coloured flowers to highlight the right areas. An LED screen framed in glitter added to the glam as a stage backdrop. A fairy tale seating with a giant floral wreath and hanging lights and a quirky bar saying “drunk in love”, matching the dance floor. A classic photo booth with our personalized logo and fairy light looped entrance corridor.

The next morning headed with the haldi/chura ceremony separately for both of us. We kept the décor simple and sober depicting our names.

Right after that, we had a tropical themed lunch party with the essence of Western Vintage touch, spreading the tropical Gaon vibes. This was our only outdoor function, where we were blessed with a pleasant weather. It had a vibrant, boho decor comprising of festoons, floral rings, barrels, flamingos, pineapples and a cute photo-booth that displayed the wedding hash tag.

Finally, it was the wedding reception night, followed by Pheras. His baraat entered the venue in a vintage car and my entry under the phoolon ki chadar with bright pink/ purple flowers matching those at the stage. The decor elements had Roman pillars, vintage pots, chandeliers, jalis and drapes around the ballroom. Pheras were outdoor, but semi-covered considering the weather. Perfectly located gold and white Mandap outside the verandah, with candles, floral chandelier and crystal strings as main elements. It all seems like a dream come true. I am lucky being blessed to have him as my soul mate in unveiling way. It was a bliss for me in my life!
