Marriage Preferences
The dichotomy between arranged and love marriages remains, with a near-even split. However, the resounding theme persists as 58.8% of millennials opt for simplicity in their weddings, steering away from the extravagance of yesteryears.

With respondents spanning ages 25 to 40 across 20 Indian cities, the survey captures the diverse financial statuses and perspectives of the youth during a period witnessing over 35 lakh weddings.
Budget Consciousness
A paradigm shift in spending habits is evident, with 73% of individuals earning 5–10 lakhs annually capping their wedding expenditures between 7–10 lakhs. This reflects a growing trend of mindful and conscious spending among the middle-class.

The report underscores a notable shift in mindset as millennials challenge the taboo associated with wedding financing. Gaurav Chopra, founder and CEO of IndiaLends, notes, “The trend of self-funding weddings highlights a sense of financial independence and conscious decision-making. Moreover, it’s worth noting that 26% of individuals choose the option of loans, challenging the long-standing taboo associated with wedding financing. This reflects a changing landscape in how we approach celebrations and signifies a growing openness towards financial choices and breaking barriers.“
In the last five years, the sentiment toward wedding spending has been dynamic, reflecting a growing mindfulness among today’s youth.
