#DRGRECOMMENDS: How To Pamper Your Skin During Holi Celebration

We know that the Holi is right around the corner and how it bothers you to take care of your skin during all that colour splash. Thus we have got the best recommendations from the industry expert, Dr Geetika Mittal Gupta. Scroll down to know essentials from pre to post-celebration skincare that will surely help you in maintaining that go-getter glow without missing the fun of festivity.

Pre Holi Skin Care

  • It is of utmost importance that you prep up your skin and body as Holi colours are suspected to have lots of chemicals and with the sun out it is essential to keep your body hydrated.
  • To prep up, you should follow your daily skincare routine apart from the recommendations given below.
  • Do not go for any treatment that has exfoliants or lasers at least a week or 10 days before Holi.
  • Stop using products that have retinol in them at least 3 days before the celebration.
  • Apply facial oil, serum or a thick layer of moisturiser just the night before to keep the skin hydrated and on the day of Holi choose clothes that cover most of your body like full sleeves outfits, caps and likewise.
  • Be loyal to your routine skin care.

During Celebration

  • It is highly recommended to apply Vaseline to more sensitive areas like around your eyes, nose as colours tend to settle there and clog pores leading to irritation or allergies.
  • Consume anti-allergic medicine if you are going to have an extensive celebration.
  • Carry sunblock, eye drops and wipes to remove the colour as and when you can.

After Holi Routine

  • Dr Geetika highly suggests to not scrub or rub your face while removing colours rather just wash with a gentle face wash or oil-based face wash. To keep it easy, you can dust off the colour first, use a foaming wash, have water and stay hydrated. One can follow these steps for children too.
  • You can apply Vaseline and sunblock along with vitamin C serum as it creates a barrier between your skin and the outside particles.
  • For people with acne-prone skin, the best you can do is consume an anti-allergic, do not consume food that is rich in sugar as it causes inflammation in the body and if you have active acne use acne patches so that the area doesn’t come in direct contact with the colours.
  • Apply a night mask for rejuvenating the skin which has hyaluronic acid & niacinamide to reduce the redness.
  • Some derma facials that are specifically suggested for our upcoming brides are, Hydra Facial and O2 derm but no laser treatment as skin is already sensitive after the celebration.
  • To keep yourself hydrated carry ORS, coconut water or kaanji (a Holi special drink).
  • Freeze ice cubes with Chamomile ice tea and Alo-vera, wrap it in a cloth and ice your face as it is known to soothe the skin.
  • Lastly, apply a mixture of moisture and descriptive mild antibiotic as it will calm the redness.
  • Triple cleansing is another routine one can follow to retain the glowing skin, in this the first step is to clean your face with micellar water, next you can do an oil massage followed by a foaming face wash.
