Vibrant red, crimson pink, deep beige or a beautiful nude… lipsticks inevitably form the most important part of your makeup. A little gloss on your withered lips or a dash of matte at the start of a day, can just be the thing that can make you feel more confident and yes, beautiful too. No longer just limited to colours – lipsticks mean textures as well; to be chosen based on your skin tone, lip type and facial features. There are galore of shades available even for a basic colour and that only adds to the confusion of picking the right one.
Here are some tips for the picture perfect pout.
1. Nudes are good but chocolaty nude is classy
- Light shimmery colour that gives a natural yet appealing tint to the lips; a great pick for the day time wedding or prenuptial events, (even office or a friends go together for that matter!) pairs up elegantly with a dusky skin tone.
- Most suited for the bride who prefers the no heavy make-up look, It is also a good choice if your wedding dress is of cream or biscuit colour.
Quick Tip – This shade is available mostly on glossy range, it looks fantastic with the little sheen; however if you’ve got an oily skin I’d suggest you dab some talcum powder on it to make lip colour matt.
2. Go different – select vivacious colours and wear them boldly
- Purple colour can bring a dramatic intensity to your looks. Also, pairing up bright beige with golden attire will be a unique style statement. most suited for fair skin and works fine in both matte and glossy finish.
- A dark chocolate lipstick with a Smokey eye effect that has a golden highlight at the inner corners look charismatic on any Indian bride.
Quick Tip- Exfoliate your lips and moisturise them well; a glossy finish helps your lips look glistening for longer if they are in the habit of getting dry quickly enough.
3. Instead of typical sweet pink go for ombre lip
- Dont be overwhelmed with a single shade, instead play around with different colors that merge well together, trick being picking one main or base color and the other being darker or lighter than it. Once mixed together they form a beautiful shade, giving an amazing gradient and fuller lips effect.
- Red and dark brown can be paired together to have that killer ombre look. Pink can be clubbed with a brown or orange for the ombre effect. The secret is to use two colors that compliment each other beautifully.
Quick Tip – It might sound little crazy but take a suitable opal cap and press it against your lips so as to suck in all the air within; it gets stuck at the borderline of your lips firmly pumping more blood and making your lips pulpier for ombre lips effect if you leave it on for some time.
4. Cherry red is not the universal code for luscious lips
- If you’re too convinced over the sensuous red, get to know the different shades in red and contemplate over the texture before you pick one.
- Satin red should have slight shine for increasing the lustre while brick red, maroon red (wine) and tomato red (vermilion) looks best in matt finish.
Quick Tip – Applying lip colour with a brush makes it last 4 times longer; create a couple of thin layers with blot between to make it look compact and intense.
We hope the the beautiful lips above will encourage you to try out some new shades. You would definitely look as cute as a kitten when you would flaunt such vibrant colours. So, stay tuned for more as we will be back shortly with some more great info.
