The Founder Director Romila Shyam had always had an interest in beauty and hair and not only did she have a flair for it but she would also do makeup and hair styling for a lot of her friends, at a hobby level. The Founder Director Romila Shyam had always had an interest in beauty and hair and not only did she have a flair for it but she would also do makeup and hair styling for a lot of her friends, at a hobby level. At that time, way back in 1966-67, there were no professional training institutes In India, so she started on her own purely by research. She also subscribed to foreign magazines and managed to get study material from Schools of Beauty at London and specialized in Skin Therapy. Soon her clientele began to grow and she started a small professional practice from home. Within a year, in 1968, she started the first branch of SCHNELL HANS at Mahim and thereafter one at Colaba. Further, not being satisfied with the readymade synthetic products used in India, she started her study of Herbal Cosmetology and with help from some colleagues who were Ayurvedlc Vaidyas and Homeopaths, she formulated natural products for skin and hair.
